Global Project Director at Ethical Corp Steve Wade selects four of his key points from the free report.

EC's Annual CR Reporting and Communications Review looks back at the key sustainability reporting changes in the last year. Here are just a few points that I took out, but you can download the report for free here

1. Reporting: product or process?
Reporting should be more than the final product (i.e. your annual report) it should be a process that can be used to refine your strategy and drive more business value.

2. It's time to master materiality
With G4 on the rise (over a 200% increase in companies switching to the new framework.) Reporting on material aspects such as your supply chain, conflict minerals and child labour are key.

3. Engagement is essential
Establishing internal champions and achieving C-level buy-in is key to driving the sustainability agenda forward internally. Externally, it's time to get creative the issues that investors, customers, NGO's see as being crucial to your business

4. Sustainability needs to get social
Why put together a report if no one will read it? More sophisticated communication strategies need to be about quality rather than quantity. The right message needs to be delivered to the right stakeholders using the right challenge. This can be through a variety of means including social media, info-graphics, blogs and videos
