On November 12th and 13th, some of the largest companies in the Extractives industries will gather in New Orleans. For the second annual Risk Management for Extractives conferences, 100+ corporate practitioners will share best practice, evolve strategies and work together to solve common problems.

On November 12 and 13, Ethical Corporation will welcome the largest oil, gas and mining companies in the world to New Orleans. On the agenda is risk management, corporate responsibility and sustainability.

Over two days, the leading players in the space will share best practice on the three core issues facing the Extractives industry today. Stakeholder engagement and community management; Regulation - particularly Dodd Frank, and IFC Standards; and Environmental risk management - with a focus on biodiversity, impact assessment and water risk.

The conference is unique in it's focus. While there are many sustainability conferences, and many conferences for the extractives industry - none bring the two together in one forum.

The approach has evidently worked.

So far, companies like Cerrejon, Baker Hughes, Pioneer, Hess, Andarko Petroleum, Chevron, Barr Engineering, BP, Talisman, Minera Panama, Shell, Occidental Petroleum, Freeport McMoran and Eni have all committed to send delegations.

The event has also focused on giving key stakeholders an opportunity to engage and work with the industry - so Ethical Corporation will also welcome investors like BNP Paribas, Swiss Re and Calvert, along with core NGOs like Amnesty International, Global Witness, and Oxfam.
