The achievements of the MT Sky Future Leaders Award winners were today celebrated at Sky studios

29th November, 2012:

An awards lunch and presentation, hosted by Sky Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch, convened the rising stars of sustainability and paid tribute to their efforts to further best practice business responsibility on the corporate agenda.

The event marks the conclusion of a joint search for the future leaders of sustainability by Sky and Management Today. The awards programme saw individuals from organisations across the UK entering submissions to be recognised for placing sustainability at the heart of their careers.

The following five stars of sustainability were named winners of the awards and honoured at the event:

  • Corporate Ace: Rachel Sinha of ICAEW
  • MBA Mastermind: Keegan Cotton of SunDial Power Pods
  • Non-profiteer: Jane Burston of Centre for Carbon Measurement
  • One to Watch: Alan Mak from Clifford Chance and Magic Breakfast
  • Start-Up Star: Toby Darbyshire from Engensa

Award judges Matthew Gwyther (Editor, Management Today), Jonathon Porritt (Co-Founder of Forum for the Future) and Kai Peters (Dean of Ashridge Business School) also joined Jeremy Darroch at the awards lunch, providing attendees with the opportunity to network with those who selected them as winners.

The awards not only identified the next generation of sustainable leaders but unearthed issues and innovations in responsible business. Particularly prominent themes included the emerging role of women in sustainability, the extension of sustainable practice from boardroom to supply chain and the innovative methods being adopted to encourage internal engagement with sustainable initiatives.

Jeremy Darroch, Sky Chief Executive said: “Our search to recognise the next generation of leaders in business sustainability has uncovered a wealth of talented people who are committed to integrating sustainability into day-to-day business. The finalists of the MT Sky Future Leaders awards were chosen for the impact they are having today, and the action they are taking to ensure that their organisations are sustainable into the future. There is much we can learn from them.”
