The Rainforest Alliance has selected ChainPoint for a "state-of-the-art software platform that creates visibility and traceability" for supply chains

Arnhem, NL – March 23, 2017

The Rainforest Alliance has selected ChainPoint, a supply chain software company from the Netherlands, to build and deliver a software platform to collect important supply chain data in many specific supply chains, including cocoa and bananas. Prior to using ChainPoint, data was stored in a number of separate applications. Now, data is collected from the start of the supply chain, all the way till finished label goods in the ChainPoint database. Over time, other agricultural products will be added to the platform, enabling even more visibility and traceability in global commodity supply chains.

“A state-of-the-art software platform that creates visibility and traceability is vital to manage the many supply chains we are active in.” explains Kiku Loomis, Director Claims, Traceability, and Trademarks at the Rainforest Alliance. “It makes our processes much more efficient, enables us to analyse data and helps us to protect the credibility of the Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM seal.”

THE RAINFOREST ALLIANCE MARKETPLACE 2.0

The new platform called Marketplace 2.0, built on ChainPoint technology, offers the following functions to the Rainforest Alliance:

• Data collection along multiple supply chains
• Interfacing with existing Rainforest Alliance systems
• Support for multiple commodities and supply chains
• Support for multiple traceability objectives, for example tracing back to certificate holder, tracing back to the country of origin, segregation, and mass balance
• Use of inventories, volume balances
• Automated transaction validation
• Registration of product conversions including ratio checks
• Management of license agreements and trademark approvals
• Support for multiple-language interfaces
• Multiple user roles

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS SUMMIT

On 27 and 28 March, Rainforest Alliance and ChainPoint will present at the 5th Responsible Business Summit in New York. The subject of the session will be: “How technology can be harnessed to manage supply chain risks”. Creating visibility and traceability across supply chains is vital to reduce risks for companies such as deforestation, labour issues or non-compliance to laws and regulations. Kiku Loomis will discuss use cases and Alexander Ellebrecht, executive manager at ChainPoint, will highlight the technical side of the new Rainforest Alliance Marketplace 2.0.
