Leading commercial property adviser, Bilfinger GVA has published its 2015 Corporate Responsibility (CR) Report, providing an overview of its CR business model and setting out its three year responsible business plan, with six strategic goals to be accomplished by 2019.
These are to:
Ensure a clear governance structure for CR issues
For the CR committee to meet at least six times a year
Seek to align with best practice CR initiatives
Engage with stakeholders to understand material issues
Publically disclose CR performance
Integrate CR aspirations into business strategy
The report also details Bilfinger GVA’s collaboration with the UK Green Building Council and how its property management team is uniquely placed with landlords and occupiers to ensure that properties operate in line with sustainable principles. During 2015, Bilfinger GVA also became a founding member of the ‘Better Building Partnership’ Managing Agents Partnership.
The CR strategy is split into the following five strands: Sustainability in Services; Culture and Wellbeing; Community and Charity; Environmental Stewardship; and, Governance and Ethics. These are concerned with delivering sustainability focused advice to clients, employees, shareholders and stakeholders, as well as increasing business and sector work on inclusion and diversity, addressing societal challenges within the property sector and delivering on commitments to operate within environmental limits.
Highlights from 2015 include: signing the Paris Pledge for Action to limit temperature rises to ‘well below 20C’; becoming a founding member of the BBP Managing Agents Partnership; achieving Gold SKA rating for new City HQ fit-out; mitigating 2,000 tonnes of carbon through the Woodland Carbon scheme and raising and donating £125,000 to national charity partners.
