Job Description:

ICTI CARE is an independent, not for profit organization established to ensure ethical manufacturing standards in the global toy and entertainment industry supply chain.

ICTI CARE is 100% committed to promoting safe and fair working conditions throughout the toy industry supply chain. Our primary focus is the safety and well being of workers, worldwide.

We offer a range of resources to enable toy brands, retailers and manufacturers achieve responsible sourcing aims and drive ethical standards. We provide far-reaching and specialised responsible sourcing audits, a robust ethical certification scheme, capability building and training programs, education, peer to peer learning – as well as a free worker helpline in China.

We work with thousands of brands, retailers, workers, suppliers, NGOs and other civil society groups to monitor, manage and fix social sustainability issues in the toy industry supply chain across the world, and to protect and improve labor standards.

Over 1,100 toy factories, located in 12 countries, are ICTI CARE Certified, representing close to three quarters of a million workers globally.

Many of the world’s leading brands and retailers including Disney, Mattel, LEGO, Hasbro, Walmart, Toy R Us, Top Toy use the ICTI CARE Program to drive responsible sourcing standards.

We currently employ 20 staff located at our HQ office in Hong Kong and in China (Shenzhen), USA (New York) and United Kingdom (London). Following the appointment of a new CEO in February 2015 and other senior staff, we have ambitious plans to grow ICTI CARE and develop the program for the next 10 years.

The role

ICTI CARE works with over 1,100 toy brands and retailer globally. We also work closely with 20 national Toy Associations including the Toy Association of America, the British Toy & Hobby Association, and the Toy Association of Europe.

We are looking for passionate and skilled corporate responsibility and ethical sourcing expert to join the ICTI CARE Foundation’s Senior Management Team in the role of Senior Advisor. This new role will support our work with multiple stakeholders, particularly Brands, Retailers, Trade Associations and others partners. The key responsibilities and objectives of the role are outlined below.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

  • Support the strategic development, growth and implementation of the ICTI CARE program

  • Build awareness and participation amongst the buying community of the ICTI CARE program securing their commitment to source from ICTI CARE Certified Factories and contribute financially to the on-going ICTI CARE operations

  • Understand the requirements of major toy and entertainment brands and retailers, helping them to achieve their responsible sourcing objectives using the ICTI CARE Program

  • High-level relationship management for major brand/retailers, providing consultancy and guidance to develop their responsible sourcing programs

  • Lead on the development of new services, resources and support for brands / retailers

  • Support and lead, were appropriate, industry working groups focused on specific supply chain issues

  • Through speaking opportunities and other events support the development of ICTI CARE as a respected industry expert and thought leader

  • Contribute to publications that help drive awareness of the issues ICTI CARE seeks to address via blogs, tweets, media articles under the direction of the Director of Communications & Stakeholder Strategy

  • Develop good relationship with country specific toy associations, for example the Toy Association of America

Requirements

  • Expertise in responsible sourcing and corporate responsibility

  • Experience of managing client relationships and/or account management

  • Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Experience in delivering impact focused programs and solutions based on multiple stakeholders needs

  • A good understanding of supply chain issues and their potential root causes

  • Understanding and experience of working with Civil Society Groups

  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects at a time

  • Excellent listening and presentation skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

The location of the role is flexible but a preference is for this role to be US based with home working an option supported by time in the local or global offices as required.

Given the global nature of ICTI CARE significant international travel is expected.

Languages would be beneficial but not essential.
