Position Overview

The Communications Associate provides event, content, marketing, and digital support to BSR staff and projects and operates as an integral part of the global BSR Communications team. The Communications Associate is based in Paris, reports to BSR’s Communications Associate Director, and engages with staff to coordinate the production of communications deliverables in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.

Responsibilities

Events

  • Execute on 10-12 BSR events per year (planning, content coordination, logistics, supplier engagement, follow-up etc.) in various EMEA locations such as Paris, London, Copenhagen, etc.

  • Execute partnership agreements with third-party event organizers (speaking slots, brand visibility, materials promotion, social media, etc.).

  • Track and provide support on external speaking slots for BSR staff in the region.

  • Provide support to the global Communications team during annual BSR Conference.

Content

  • Execute on the production of high-value content in French and assist the team with marketing materials, presentations, blogs, articles, event reports on topics such as climate change, economic inclusion, human rights, etc.

  • Translate selected BSR English content into French or coordinate with translation agency to produce.

  • Provide support when needed on English content editing (blogs, reports, articles, etc.) or coordinate with external copy editors.

Website

  • Manage the update of BSR French website (new pages, announcements, articles, events, staff bios, etc.).

Digital marketing

  • Lead on the production of email marketing collateral and campaigns in the region in close collaboration with the communications team in the United States.

  • Maintain and develop the contact database in the EMEA region for marketing purposes.  

Media / social media

  • Provide support during media outreach campaigns in the region, notably on building media contact lists, crafting/translating media pitches, etc.

  • Coordinate with BSR’s social media team to provide visibility on multiple social media platforms for EMEA-specific activities (regional-specific announcements/promotions, regional event live tweeting, etc.).

Performance / budget monitoring

  • Manage marketing calendar updates and deadlines for the region.

  • Process EMEA Communications invoices and track EMEA Communications budget spending.

  • Manage and track EMEA communications performance results, such as French website visits, EMEA email marketing results, coverage in EMEA media outlets, etc.

Administration

  • Manage relationships with external providers (copy editors, designers, photographers, printers, caterers, etc.).

  • Provide basic communications onboarding and training for staff in the region.

Qualifications

  • BA/Masters in Marketing/Communication/Journalism.

  • Perfectly fluent/bilingual in French and English, with superior written and verbal communication, writing, and editing skills in both languages.

  • Knowledge of and experience working in core marketing/communications functions (content, events, database, media, social media, etc.).

  • Exceptional project management skills with ability to deliver on simultaneous projects in multiple locations and/or languages.

  • Knowledge of and experience working on issues related to sustainability/corporate social responsibility strongly preferred.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Strong initiative, with a “can do” approach.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment.

  • Desire to pursue a career in marketing and communications.
