Job Description:

MADE-BY, a European not-for-profit organisation is looking to hire a highly entrepreneurial Business Director, to lead the launch of its comprehensive, sustainability tracking tool, MODE-Tracker either in London or Amsterdam.

MADE-BY's mission is to improve environmental and social conditions in the fashion industry through strategic consultancy. To support the fashion brands in seeing where the issues are within their business, products and supply chain, MADE-BY has invested two years in creating an innovative progress tool in MODE-Tracker. This platform provides clients with a rigorous framework and roadmap for making step by step improvements in sustainability that are externally verified and publicly available.

Reporting to the CEO, the Business Director will design and spearhead an ambitious five year business plan and build a team to support this strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the transition of existing partner brands from the current partnership tool onto MODE-Tracker

  • Successful launch of MODE-Tracker into the wider public and generate positive publicity

  • Develop a robust business plan to achieve income targets and business partnerships

  • Build and develop strong client relationships that ultimately lead to long term partnerships

  • Overseeing a team to devise and develop new content for MODE-Tracker

As the successful candidate, you will be pragmatic, resilient and results oriented with a track record of developing and implementing a business strategy that results in generating clients and income streams. You will have an eye for detail, and the ability to advise and support a technical team to ensure product excellence.

Key skills and requirements:

  • Solid work experience in the fashion or textile industry, ideally with a focus in sustainability

  • Expertise in building and developing client relationships and converting these into new business

  • Adept at managing projects and complex programmes of change within challenging timescales

  • Understanding of financial costs and margins and managing budgets

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and lead others to deliver their commitments

  • Excellent written and verbal English
