John Edelman was appointed in 2010 as Managing Director, Global Engagement and Corporate Responsibility, a new position focused on Edelman’s global citizenship, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. He also serves as President of the DJ Edelman Family Foundation.

Edelman leads the firm’s global citizenship initiatives including corporate social responsibility, volunteerism, corporate philanthropy, community engagement, supplier and partnership engagement, environmental sustainability, and corporate reporting. He co-leads the Global Diversity Advisory Group with Claudia Patton, Chief Talent Officer.

Prior to his new appointment, he had served as Managing Director, Global Human Resources since 1995 overseeing global human resources professional staff and operations.

The Holmes Group awarded the 2012 Silver Sabre for PR Agency Citizenship to Edelman. Edelman won a PRSA Silver Anvil in 2000 for excellence in Internal Communication, in recognition of the firm’s global launch of the company’s mission, vision, and values program.

Earlier, he served as Vice President and General Manager in the Edelman office in Dallas. He was a delegate on the Dallas Chamber of Commerce Trade Mission to Japan.

Edelman holds a Master’s degree in Management (MM) in marketing and public management from Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in political science from Brown University.

He currently is a member of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship and the Advisory Council for the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).
