Like families and businesses, non-governmental organisations and charities are gearing up to weather the credit crunch. But while research suggests that voluntary donations to charities from the general public dip as the economy nosedives, at least two UK-based, global NGOs are keeping a positive outlook.

Green campaigner WWF has become known for its high-profile partnerships with companies such as Marks & Spencer and HSBC. Dax Lovegrove, WWF’s head of business and industry relations, says these partnerships are safe for now, but that the NGO is preparing for the worst.

“We could potentially see our income decline in the next couple of years,” he says, adding that WWF will become more “choosy” over its campaigns and focus on how it can become more efficient.
