china "bashing" ? - mo piere, 10 Jun 2008
Perhaps a couple of corporations are ethical but this article certainly isn't. Full of half-thruths and disinformation it's hard to decide what to focus on.
So you beleive it is racist to object to the jailing and torture of someone attempting to exercise his religious beliefs? What is this constant refrain that we must now all "respect" the Chinese government and not criticise them? The world rightly criticizes Bush for policies it disagrees with. Is the world then racist againts Americans? Do Americans threathen every foreign politician that dares criticize the American Goverment? Why the double standard?
Is calling the leaders of a government that is responsible for more deaths than Hitler "goons" so outlandish? Does this mean we can no longer call Hitler a "goon"?
By the way I suggest you read some of the PRC online commentary re. Jin Jing before you play loose with the term "mob".
And by the way do you suppose there may be a little bit of racism of Chinese regarding Tibetans? Or is that not one of your talking points?
Shallow - Ryan H, 10 Jun 2008
Is this a high schoolers blog or an actual article by a journalist. It was hard to tell, and the talk of boycotting the Olympics is coming from citizens that are not involved with foreign investment and are just learning of the atrocities China has taken part of. And to the point that we should not boycott because we were involved with Iraq, look at the public sentiment towards that. Don't try and stereotype Americans, its just as dangerous as the stereotyping you do in this "article".

Mr. Nair hit the nail squarely on the head with this article. I have always been telling all my friends the inherent hypocrisy of the West. Hypocrisy is a part of Western culture.
Great work - Fair is Fair, 1 Jul 2008
This is a piece of intelligent reporting Mr. Nair. Of course there are the odd points where we can criticize on but over the run of things and from what I can see in China over the last month, this is as accurate as it comes. Well done for seeing through the tainted picture we are being painted and hope other so-called 'China' journalist would show similar intelligence in their reporting.
Human Rights and corporate lies - Hank Hogweed, 29 Jul 2008
The Olympics pander to the lie that sport is ethical and about human values. The Olypmic committee is corrupt, China cares as much for human rights as Stalin did, and only those who want Chinese money toady to them. Ban the Olypmpics everywhere.
Hear! - B C, 15 Aug 2008
I agree completely. Many people I know have visited China and cannot say enough of its praises. What I hate is that, those who bash China -and Chinese people at that- are those who have never set foot NEAR asia -at best-. Yet there they go spitting half truths about China. Get informed, then form an opinion because images of China portrayed by media, politicans is all to biased.
