Carbon neutral bandwagon

Virgin Atlantic plans to shame passengers into buying carbon offsets for their journeys alongside in-flight alcohol and perfume. Virgin feels that more customers will be willing to offset emissions associated with their flights once on board, as they see fellow passengers cough up for carbon credits. The airline says in-flight sales could persuade up to half of the plane to buy offsets.

Internet search engine Yahoo has jumped on the carbon neutral bandwagon and is to offset 250,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases from the power it uses by funding renewable energy projects in Brazil and India.
