I’m about to make a terrible confession. Occasionally, when I’m alone in my car and I haven’t refreshed my CD supply, I’ll turn my radio dial to a local talk station and listen to Rush Limbaugh (or, as commentator Keith Olberman aptly refers to him, “the comedian Rush Limbaugh”).

I don’t listen to the self-described Mr. “Excellence in Broadcasting” out of any expectation that I will experience an epiphany, move to a red state and throw my support behind the “surge.”

But I am interested in what people who don’t share my own biases and preconceived ideas are saying and thinking. This lets me occasionally test my own biases and challenge my own preconceptions. For all this, my own dogma is rarely shaken.
