In a new report “The tip of the iceberg: Chemical contamination in the Arctic”, WWF alleges that pollutants being released into the Arctic by chemical industries are harming the arctic ecosystem.

The report says chemicals ranging from banned pesticides like DDT to flame retardants commonly used in furniture, clothes and electrical equipment are building up in the Arctic wildlife.

Polar bears, seals and whales in the region have been found to be affected by these chemicals, says WWF.
