Back in October 2002, the European Commission established a “multi-stakeholder forum” on corporate social responsibility, which reported its results in early July this year.

The forum was made up of representatives from business, trade unions and civil society groups. Over 20 months it convened four roundtable discussions where case studies of corporate social responsibility in action were presented and debated.

The case studies covered improving knowledge around practical issues within corporate social responsibility, how small and medium-sized enterprises could be engaged on corporate responsibility and transparency, and the contribution of corporate social responsibility to international development.
