Ashley Stockwell, formerly executive director for brand and marketing at Virgin Media, has joined Global Ethics as global sales and marketing director. His remit includes worldwide sales, brand strategy and management, advertising, sponsorship and customer marketing for all Global Ethics and ONE branded products and services. Global Ethics is an ethical consumer goods company whose charitable arm is the ONE Foundation.
 

The Sustainable Investments Institute (Si2) has appointed Peter DeSimone as deputy director. His most recent role was as director of programmes at the Social Investment Forum.DeSimone co-founded Si2 in 2009 with executive director Heidi Welsh and the two will be working together to build the non-profit organisation’s membership and research offerings. 
 

PRUPIM, the real estate fund management arm of M&G, has hired Nina Jackson as director, sustainability and environment. Overseeing a wide range of sustainability projects, her role is to help further embed sustainability into PRUPIM’s investment decision-making process.Jackson was previously an associate director at Jones Lang LaSalle.
 

The London Sustainable Development Commission (LSDC) has appointed Charles O’Malley, head of Europe at AccountAbility, as one of its 15 London Leaders for 2011. Established in 2002, the LSDC’s role is to advise the Mayor of London on making London an “exemplary sustainable world city”. The London Leaders programme brings together leaders from all walks of life to tackle London’s sustainability challenges. O’Malley will be launching FutureCamp: an entrepreneur boot camp to accelerate the growth of early stage businesses and social enterprises that are solving major environmental and social problems.
 

Carole Crozat and Niamh Whooley have joined the SRI broker research team of French bank Société Générale. Based in Paris, Crozat (formerly of Allianz Global Investors) will be a senior SRI analyst. Whooley, who was previously a CSR specialist at Fidelity Investments, will be based in Société Générale’s London office.
 

Leading social and private housing specialist United House recently appointed sustainability expert Richard Hurford in a new role to spearhead its continuing growth in the green arena. As head of sustainable refurbishment, Hurford will help to drive forward the company’s expansion in low-carbon retrofit work and continued investment in sustainable practices. Hurford joins from the Energy Saving Trust. 
 

Grid Cloud Solutions, an American renewable energy service provider, has hired Danny Wong as chief executive officer. Wong, a Canadian businessman and founder of the Encompass Group, also joins Grid Cloud Solutions’ board of directors. 
 

APPOINTMENT OF THE MONTH
 

Rob Lake is to join the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) as director of strategic development.In his new role, Lake will be responsible for PRI’s country networks, signatory outreach and recruitment, the academic network and the public policy network. Wolfgang Engshuber, PRI chair, says: “Rob has been a leader in responsible investment for ten years, and PRI and the signatory network will both draw great strength from his experience and expertise.”
 

Lake was previously head of sustainability and governance at APG Asset Management, where he was responsible for integrating sustainability and corporate governance factors into APG’s investment process across all asset classes. 
 

Kathleen Enright has become the first UK practice head of OgilvyEarth, Ogilvy’s global sustainability marketing consultancy. She will be responsible for providing sustainability expertise, working as part of a taskforce to challenge clients on their sustainability issues and help them promote their sustainability products and engagements. Prior to joining Ogilvy, Enright was senior sustainability consultant at Paris-based consultancy Ethicity. 
 

Shaun McGrath has taken over as executive director for the American Solar Energy Society. McGrath has more than 25 years of public policy experience in local, state and federal government and most recently served as deputy director of intergovernmental affairs for the Obama administration.
 

Bill Hughes, managing director of Legal & General Property, has been named chairman of the Green Property Alliance, an umbrella organisation for green real estate.
 

Global banking group BNP Paribas has appointedSilvia Arto as head of brand and communications and head of CSR for investment solutions. Arto will be responsible for development and delivery of investment solutions’ communications and CSR strategy. She was previously head of communication for BNP Paribas Personal Investors.
 

Grontmij engineering consultants has appointed Alex Drysdale as director of building sustainability. He was previously responsible for managing one of the building services design groups.
 

Ben Blydenstein has joined FEFCO (the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers)as marketing and environment director. Blydenstein had previously held a number of roles at SCA Packaging.
 

The Senate of Central European University has appointed Peter Hardi, professor of business ethics and CSR at CEU Business School, to CEU’s sustainability advisory committee. Hardi is also director of the Centre for Integrity in Business and Government, pursuing the advancement of transparency in public and business relations.
